CNC Programmer
Location: Near Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (Onsite Monday - Friday)
Compensation:
$60,000 to $100,000 base plus bonus
POSITION SUMMARY
This CNC Programmer role is critical in supporting production operations involving high-precision parts. The ideal candidate is comfortable programming, setting up, and inspecting complex components using multi-axis Swiss-type machines.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reading and Interpreting Technical Blueprints
- Interpret SolidWorks prints and technical drawings to understand part design and tolerancing requirements
- Must be proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Programming CNC Machines
- Utilize Abile (or similar CAM software) to generate programs for Swiss-type machines
- Capable of manually editing and adjusting G-code as needed
Setting Up CNC Machines
- Determine machining sequences and optimize setups for production
- Set up and configure multi-axis Tsugami machines to meet print specifications
Selecting and Managing Cutting Tools
- Select appropriate tooling for each part
- Experience with tool design, development, and grinding is a plus
- Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as necessary
Adjusting Machine Settings
- Fine-tune parameters to meet tight tolerances (±0.0002”)
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finishes throughout production
Quality Control
- Perform in-process and final inspections using appropriate measuring tools
- Ensure all parts conform to design and quality standards
Machine Maintenance
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime
Team Collaboration and Training
- Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet project goals
- Train new team members on machine operation and setup procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience with Swiss-type CNC machines (Tsugami preferred)
- Proficiency with Abile or comparable CAM software (e.g., Esprit, PartMaker, Mastercam)
- Strong understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and close-tolerance machining
- Familiarity with tooling, bar feed systems, and high-pressure coolant systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications a plus
