Senior Human Resources Generalist
Location: NW Indiana / SE Chicago
Compensation:
$70,000 to $90,000 + 10% bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers at two or more local facilities.
- Support daily HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain accurate employee records related to hiring, terminations, leaves, promotions, compensation, and compliance.
- Manage leave of absence programs including short-term and long-term disability.
- Handle payroll coordination, benefits questions, and employee attendance tracking.
- Ensure smooth onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Educate employees on company policies and HR procedures; maintain compliance with labor laws and internal guidelines.
- Assist with grievance handling, union interactions, and labor relations support.
- Support implementation of training and development programs.
- Use HR systems (ideally UKG) and Excel for tracking, reporting, and communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of HR experience, including 3+ years in a union environment.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (UKG strongly preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite (e.g., pivot tables, reporting).
- Strong communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
