Controls Engineer

Up to $115,000 base + monthly bonus opportunities
About the Role
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to lead automation, PLC programming, and control-system troubleshooting within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving machine performance, optimizing control logic, and supporting production during both projects and urgent issues.
What You’ll Do
- Design, modify, and program PLC and HMI systems to support production needs and system upgrades.
- Troubleshoot controls-related issues during equipment downtime and implement permanent solutions.
- Improve cycle times, throughput, and quality by optimizing automation logic.
- Develop standardized documentation, including parameter settings, instructions, and procedures.
- Maintain control system software archives and ensure version control across platforms.
- Interpret operational data and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and reliability.
- Partner with vendors on control hardware, system upgrades, and automation components.
- Support after-hours production or maintenance issues as needed.
- Participate in engineering projects, equipment commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical or related discipline preferred).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in controls engineering or industrial automation.
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming using RSLogix/Studio5000, and experience with FactoryTalk View, HMI/SCADA platforms, or Ignition.
- Ability to read, interpret, and update electrical schematics; knowledge of NEC standards is a plus.
- Experience improving automation logic, diagnosing downtime issues, and supporting plant manufacturing operations.
- Solid understanding of machine automation, safety systems, sensors, and communication networks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to support after-hours needs when required.
